Borrowing Policies

Circulating items: Books, reserve materials, most government publications, curriculum materials, teaching kits, Big Books.
Non-circulating items: Special collections and rare books, reference materials, software, periodicals or journals.

Circulation

  • Circulating items may only be borrowed for a one-week period due to the limited number of copies in the collection and to accommodate the access needs of all students to the materials.
  • The privilege of borrowing CMC materials belongs to all University of Richmond students, faculty and staff with a valid ID. First priority for borrowing is granted to students and faculty of the School of Arts and Sciences Department of Education Teacher and School of Continuing Studies Teacher Licensure Programs, Please do not expect to check out materials for friends or members of your family or "loan" them your card. Special patron privileges allows use of materials only within the CMC.
  • No more than 5 total items may be checked out at any time.
  • Please return materials on time. Fines will be assessed. Those who do not pay fines over $5.00 or return overdue material within 60 days may have borrowing privileges suspended.
  • Bring items to be borrowed to the CMC circulation desk with a valid UR ID card.
  • Check out materials at least 15 minutes prior to closing.

Reserves

  • Reserves may be checked out for the time allotted by the instructor: 2 hours, 24-hour (1 day) or 3 days. Special patron privileges allows use of materials only within the CMC.
  • The 2 hour reserves may not leave the CMC. Please return to circulation desk when finished with materials.
  • Overdue fines for 2 hour and 24-hour (1 day) reserves accrue at .50 an hour; and for 3 day reserves the fines accrue at $1.00 a day.

Instructional Technology Resources

  • Reservations for check-out of wireless laptops are required. Fines accrue daily. They may be reserved in advance for academic projects or instructional use only through a CMC student assistant or Director. Reservations should be made 2 weeks in advance to assure equipment is in good working order upon charge (check-out).
