CMC Instructional Resources

Print resources include curriculum materials for lesson and unit formulation, educational textbooks and guides, content literacy readers, supplemental educational resources and teaching kits for specific subject areas. Collection items are available for student and faculty evaluation and use. These collections are subject to the same borrowing policies as books in the main library collections with the exception of the one-week circulation period.

Technology resources include one Apple OS X student workstation and wireless laptops that are provided for academic purposes only within the CMC. Students may access the internet on these computers, work on multimedia projects or use programs such as Microsoft Office, iWorks, i-Life, Inspiration, Kidspiration, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, or Macromedia Dreamweaver, and other multimedia software. A flatbed color scanner is also available, and black/white and color laser printers.

Wireless laptops may be reserved for in class instructional use only within the North Court building. A class list must be provided by the instructor in advance since all laptops will be charged to the instructor's account. Reserves must be made two weeks in advance by course instructors to assure equipment is in good working order upon charge (check-out) and to avoid "double-booking". Students are responsible for picking up and returning  the laptops 15 minutes prior to and after class time. When not reserved or being used for classes, wireless laptops may be checked out for use within CMC only.

Lamination services are available upon request for academically related projects or student teaching materials. All jobs are usually completed within a 24-hour period unless it is over a weekend or holiday. Notification will be by e-mail or phone when items have been laminated and are ready for pick-up. Items MUST be submitted for lamination and approval by the CMC Director with a Request Form. After approval from the CMC Director, only trained CMC staff members are permitted to complete the lamination request. Please submit all requests to the CMC student assistant on duty.

An Ellison die cut machine is provided for use in preparing course related materials or instructional materials for student teaching. The Ellison machine requires training and staff assistance prior to use. A photocopier is also available - copy cards are required.

These items are provided for use by students, faculty or staff of the Arts & Sciences Department of Education Teacher Preparation and School of Continuing Studies Teacher Licensure Programs, for on-campus academic projects related to these programs with approval by the director of the CMC and/or course instructor.
