Reserve Policy (Faculty)

  • Books from other libraries, photocopies, AV materials, or exams to be taken by students may not be put on reserve in the CMC. For security purposes, only CMC existing materials may be placed on reserve.
  • Periodical and/or reference materials or personal print items of any kind are placed on reserve only with the approval of CMC director. The library cannot assume responsibility for damaged or stolen personal items.
  • It is the instructor's responsibility to know the rules of "fair use" and to obtain copyright permission when needed.
  • If it is possible that a reserve item will be copied rather than read in the CMC by most students, we recommend that it be placed on 1-hour reserve.
  • Please do not combine reserve requests. Please submit one list per class.
  • Reserve requests should be received two weeks before the beginning of each term. This is to ensure that we can process your requests in a timely manner.
  • During the first two weeks of any term, reserve materials can be processed within five working days of receipt. After these peak periods, items will be processed within two days. We will do our very best to expedite your requests as soon as possible.
  • Requests, which are received with no loan period indicated, will automatically be placed on two-hour reserve. Please take the time to completely fill out the reserve request form. This will help expedite the process.
  • Interlibrary loan (ILL) policy states that the CMC cannot put ILL materials on reserve.
  • It is strongly recommended that books which are not required reading for a course be left in the circulating collection rather than placed on reserve.

For all other reserves, see Boatwright Memorial Library Overview of Course Reserves: Electronic and Print.
